Color measurement of confectionery

In the confectionery industry, intensive and product-specific colors are often used by the manufacturer. At the same time, the consistency of the color is also a quality parameter. Developing a color palette that consumers recognize is an important part of the manufacturing process and quality control for products such as candies, fruit gums, jelly gums, chocolate drops and chocolate lentils. HunterLab offers exactly the right color measurement solutions, stationary or online/inline, to meet the quality standards related to the visual perception of confectionery.

Our solutions for your confectionery:

Aeros

Laboratory device for measuring color and degree of browning

  • Non-contact measurement

The sensor detects the sample without contact, without having to measure through plastic or glass.
  • Large surface area

The rotating sample plate captures over 170 cm2 of the sample in 35 measurements in 7 seconds.
  • Integrated QC software

The EasyMatch QC Essentials quality control software is integrated into the device and provides all the required color indices and metrics.
Aeros
  • Intelligent height adjustment

The distance sensor automatically compensates for height differences in irregular samples.

Application example:

Measuring the color of confectionery

Confectionery such as sweets, fruit gums and chocolate dragées are small, bite-sized individual pieces. The color measurement of a single candy, for example, is not possible due to the small and uneven surface. However, even when measuring a certain quantity in a cuvette, the pieces come to rest differently on the bottom of the cuvette each time, so that one would have to average over many individual measurements in order to obtain repeatable results. This is why HunterLab recommends non-contact color measurement with the Aeros spectrophotometer specifically for confectionery. The sensor of the Aeros sits eccentrically above the edge of a dish that contains a large amount of the sample...

Color measurement of contact lenses

Color measurement of contact lenses

Color measurement is essential in the development of contact lenses in order to optimize both coloration and light transmission. Clear lenses are lightly tinted to facilitate handling without impairing the visual experience. Using specific color measurements, the transmission of light through the lenses can be precisely analyzed and controlled depending on the material. For tinted lenses, the precise measurement makes it possible to change eye colors authentically. HunterLabs Vista spectrophotom...
